Favorite Christmas Scenes in Non-Christmas Movies

We all have our favorite holiday films this time of year. You have your classics, your Miracle on 34th Street, your Scrooged, even your Die Hard and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. There are a few films, however, that I like to watch that aren't set entirely at Christmas or have nothing to do with the holiday, but have a heartwarming scene or two set at this jolly time. Here are a few favorites!

Fritz and Ernst come home, Swiss Family Robinson (1960)

The two oldest Robinson boys go off exploring the island, and the family back home tries to celebrate Christmas without them. Mother Robinson fears the worst and misses the boys, and they come back with a couple guests...

Secret Santa, The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)

Freshman Charlie has become close to a misfit group of seniors and this group has a special Secret Santa gift exchange and they become even closer. It's a really moving scene in the context of the film, and one of my favorites from the book the film is based on.

Mame the Roller Skate Lady, Auntie Mame (1958)

Hurting after the stock market crash, Auntie Mame has to go back to work and finds herself working at Macy's in the middle of Christmas madness. She bungles it up hilariously, but finds herself a Prince Charming in the process!

Christmas Carolers, The Addams Family (1991)

Not everybody is a fan of Christmas, and especially Christmas carolers, so the Addams Family welcomes them the best way they know how...it involves a cauldron.

Christmas Morning and the Invisibility Cloak, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)

Aww, sweet little Harry Potter and Ron Weasley celebrate Christmas together and Harry actually gets presents for probably the first time in his sad sad life. All the Harry Potter Christmas scenes are great, but this one has a special place in my heart.

Beth's Piano, Little Women (1994)

Cue the waterworks! In these scene, Beth (played by Claire Danes of the best ugly crying face ever) is gifted a piano by her friend and neighbor. She's been ill and it's all so sweet and sad and wahhhhh!

Jingle Bell Rock, Mean Girls (2004)

Every list needs a little Mean Girls, doesn't it? That thigh-slap, hahaha!

Give these a watch if you're not ready to let Christmas go!
