The Questionnaire


Having lived through the era of Myspace we all have at least a passing familiarity with questionnaires. Most are simply an amusing pastime/an opportunity to write about ourselves. But some, like the legendary Proust Questionnaire (if taken seriously) can give a real insight into the person being quizzed.

It is with this in mind that we at Cinema Nerds have developed the ultimate in pretentious film surveys...

    Not completely sure. Either "Cliffhanger" or "Tombstone" on VHS

    What was the first film you ever saw at midnight in a theater? Honestly, I don't remember. You think I'd make a note of such a momentous occasion!

    What is your favorite use of non-score music in a film? "I Want Candy" in Marie Antoinette, and "These Days" in The Royal Tenenbaums

    What film can you not wait to show your child? A Little Princess (1995)

    What is your favorite silent film? Tie between The Unknown and My Best Girl! Oh, and Phantom of the Opera too!

    sadly, I was a depraved child/teenager and a busy college student, I honestly think it was the Princess and the Frog---lol

    What is your favorite use of non-score music in a film? Sam Cooke's "Your Love is Lifting Me" (Higher and HIgher) in ghostbusters II

    What is your favorite movie theater? I think it's a three way tie between Bay Theater (seal Beach), the Art Theater (LBC) and the Arclight (h-wood)

    What is your favorite movie poster? FOR EFFECTIVENESS and awesomeness---VERTIGO---actually gives me vertigo looking at it

    What is your least favorite digital effect in a specific film? Anyone remember when they turn Chet, Wyatt's older brother in "Weird Science" into a piece of shit? that was pretty bad. but Bill Paxton is awesome and the fact that he still had a career after that is even more awesome.

    anything starring Joseph Gordon Levitt (let's say 500 days of summer) with anything starring Jason Seigel (how bout "i love you man")

    The Notebook, while i hold my lovers hand and he dies with me

    Tenacious D and the pick of Destiny-Papagenu? classic!

    Citizen Kane---and i'd look down on all of you from my tower and send my flying monkeys for correspondence--muah-ahahahahahaha!

    Hottub time Machine. i miss day-glo and color-changing shirts and leg warmers

    Ghostbusters II-nothing beats the Statue of Liberty coming to life and jamming out to Sam Cooke

    I'm going to second Craig on this one and say 'Beetlejuice.' (that and I can't think of anything else).

    I started going to 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' screenings when I was sixteen.

    'Love Letter' by Ketty Lester in 'Blue Velvet.'

    The Art Theatre in Long Beach BEFORE it was renovated.

    Well, I don't plan on having kids, so I would show my nephew 'Labyrinth' or 'It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown' when my sister gives me the chance.

    Either 'City Lights' or 'Metropolis.'

    You know, I haven't been too exposed to much noir, to be honest. For now, I'm going to have to say 'Dr. Caligari.'

    Hahaha, some of the themes my roommate and I come up with for movie nights are rather priceless. The most up & coming one is "Trashy Romance Night" with 'True Romance' and 'Wild At Heart.'

    'Mulholland Dr.'

    The opening number to 'Mulholland Dr.' by Angelo Badalamenti and "First Snow" by Clint Mansell from 'The Fountain.'

    I loved Holly GoLightly's costumes in 'Breakfast at Tiffany's,' or anything Grace Kelly wore in 'Rear Window.'
