Sight & Sound Challenge: Sherlock, Jr. (1924)

Film: Sherlock, Jr. (157/250)
First Time/Rewatch: Rewatch

I think this might be my favorite Buster Keaton film, and I may even venture to say that this is his masterpiece. You can keep The General...it's impressive, but Sherlock, Jr really showcases his unique brand of comedy and charm. I was laughing out loud throughout this viewing, even at bits I've seen countless times. The way he "shadows" his suspect, the dream-film-within-a-film (which is GENIUS), the money-in-the-trash bit...it's all brilliant. Keaton was legendary. At a lean 45 minutes, he sparks the imagination and tickles of the funny bone of audiences like other filmmakers could only dream about. It's magic.
