Sight & Sound Challenge: L'Argent (1983)

Film: L'Argent (115/250)
First Time/Rewatch: First Time

Robert Bresson is one of the most represented directors on Sight & Sound's top 250 films list. The man directed 14 films. 7 of them appear on this list. Say it with me: "Daaaaaaaamn!" Somebody knew what they were doing. This film centers around a man who was given counterfeit money and the ways it destroys his life afterwards. Now, I don't know that I completely buy the final outcome of his story (it's pretty drastic) but it's always interesting to watch a film that explores the theme of consequences. Yes, horrible things can happen in our lives; it wasn't his fault he was passed counterfeit money, but he made bad choices that led to the events at the end of this film. Then again, the people truly at fault didn't suffer much for their part in ruining this man's life. I guess karma doesn't come for all of us. On to more Bresson!
