Sight & Sound Challenge: Chungking Express (1994)

Film: Chungking Express (95/250)
First Time/Rewatch: Rewatch

I love this movie. It's the right amount of quirky and it's incredibly engaging. The film has two main plots, the first being about a cop who falls for a mysterious underworld figure while also obsessing about his recently ended relationship, and the second about a girl who works at a snack bar and, after falling for a regular customer, decides to break into his apartment, redecorate, dance around to her favorite CD...intrigued yet? The characters are definitely memorable (Faye Wong has an Amelie Poulin thing going on) and it's shot beautifully, with combined fast and slow motion effects. I really enjoyed revisiting this. It has undeniable charm, and I'll never hear "California Dreamin'" without thinking of this film again!
