Sight & Sound Challenge: The Lady Eve (1941)

Film: The Lady Eve (21/250)
Critics Poll: 110th
Directors Poll: 174th
First Time/Rewatch: Rewatch

The scene pictured above, where Barbara Stanwyck runs her fingers through Henry Fonda's hair and half-talks, half-moans against his cheek should be in the dictionary next to "sexual tension." Or Wikipedia. Whatever. This film is all about a very clever woman using her brains and her sexuality to snag a cute but clueless guy, and I'm totally down with that. This film was written and directed by Preston Sturges, so if nothing else you know it's going to be sexy and witty. And is there anybody lovelier than Stanwyck? She's just so damn cool and gorgeous that you get the feeling that she's one step ahead of everybody all the time. Definitely a fun date night (or any night!) movie.
