Though it sucks to be the victim of a confidence scheme, EVERYONE loves films about con artists. It’s the perfect con.
No matter how “in on it” you are throughout the film, there is always something being held back by the filmmakers. You don’t realize it at the time. It’s right there in front of your face but you don’t see it because you’re too busy having fun watching these goofy characters in these exotic locations. Yet when it all comes together in the end, rather than feeling like you’ve been had, you feel exhilarated.
